Today, the main place for shooting programs (Hope Channel Ukraine) is a small-sized studio in Kiev. It produces more than 10 programs and shooting often can be in two shifts. The further development of Hope Cannnel Ukraine is limited to small size of the room.
1st Stage of the Project – New Central Studio
The 1st Stage of the Project provides a way of solving the problem by ensuring the uninterrupted work on Hope Channel Ukraine Central Studio, as one of the basic producers of the production. The plan is to create a new movie set on the basis of a sports complex at the Ukrainian Institute for the Humanities.

- Interior space renovation
- Switching system
- Equipment and Lighting
- System for fixing decorations
- Video and audio equipment
The budget to create a new movie set on the basis of a sports complex is 60 000 Euro
The main resource of Hope Channel Ukraine is people. The dedicated, purposeful, and united team (formed as in the main so in regional media centres) possess a great spiritual and creative potential. This project is connected with much technical and financial investment, but it is based on the most important aspect– the professional team for the Channel already exists. This fact guarantees that invested money will yield results at once and because of your donation much more people will hear about hope.
2nd Stage of the Project – Journalism department
The 2nd Stage of the Project provides a journalism department under the Ukrainian Institute of Arts and Sciences establishment. The currency and necessity of a journalism specialty establishment are conditioned by the following factors:
1. In the Soviet Union the sphere of journalism was characterised by strict government control of access, training, and distribution of personnel in this specialty. Accordingly, far from all social groups had the capability to obtain an education in journalism. Adventists were not the exception. Consequently, the post-Soviet situation was characterised by the specific vacuum of specialists in the sphere of Christian journalism.
2. Currently, there are a very small number of Christian journalists and specialised personnel working. For Hope Channel Ukraine there are only 2% of such specialists working. Two-year paid courses under the Ukrainian Institute of Arts and Sciences were founded for solving this issue. However, this was only a partial resolution to the complex question which arose, since the given courses do not allow the possibility of obtaining higher education with the specialty in “journalism”.
3. The tendency of SDA media ministry growth comes into sight, increases demand for the qualitative and meaningful radio transmissions, the printed publications, the TV programs. The prospect of the 24 hour broadcasting of Hope Channel EAD directly depends on whether the conditions for forming professional manpower recourses (which have biblical Adventist ideology vector) will be created. Without the proper professionals it is impossible to plan the development of a Christian media space.
4. The establishment and functioning of such a specialty (department), and in the process of time, a separate journalism faculty will become the foundation for realization and development of powerful creative potential to produce programmes which will meet the needs of the modern sociocultural environment in the spiritual sphere.
5. Educating such specialised personnel (journalists, TV specialists, and so on) in the network of the church organization becomes very prospective from the point of church mission. On the one hand, qualified specialists will become Gospel bearers; on the other hand, they will contribute to the positive image of SDAs among society formation.
On the basis of the given information, the establishment of a Journalism department under the Ukrainian Institute of Arts and Sciences will be a great blessing for the Church and society.
3rd Stage of the Project – Main media centre
In the 3rd stage of the media ministry development strategic project, we propose to establish the Hope Channel Ukraine Main media centre under the Journalism department in Ukrainian Institute of Arts and Sciences. According to the Hope Channel Restructuring Plan, accepted by the Ukrainian Union Conference Executive Council, transition of the existing studio in Kiev to the guardianship and financing of the Central Media Centre is planned6. The same Restructuring Plan provides for the establishment of the Channel Main Media Centre under the Journalism Department in the Ukrainian Institute of Arts and Sciences. The Sports complex building, which will be emptied due to the Multifunctional Complex opening, is considered to be used as a needed building.
Realization of this project provides solving the following tasks:
1. Journalism department students will have the needed conditions for practical realization of professional knowledge.
2. Hope Channel Ukraine will actualize a lot of projects having created conditions for students’ creative potential realization.
3. There will be no need to hire a lot of staff to provide the work of the media centre.
4. The Hope Channel Ukraine staff list will not increase a lot due to the opening of the Main Media Centre in the Ukrainian Institute of Arts and Sciences because part of the present staff will be transferred to the Central Media Centre guardianship.
